Can openers touch lots of cans, each of which have been touched by lots of people at supermarkets. For this reason I chose to use a handheld can opener that can be sanitized more easily between uses. I pop my old-school can opener into the dishwasher between uses and toss old dull can openers when they get worn out from repeated use and washing
