15. Eat yogurt
There is a dizzying array of yogurt options available at your local grocery store. But the most nutritious of all yogurts is plain, whole milk organic yogurt. The reason being, the probiotics which make yogurt so fantastic for our gut health are best ingested without the added sugar of flavored yogurt. Flavored yogurts often contain added sugars which feed the "bad bacteria" in your gut. Check that the label indicates "live and active cultures" to make sure you're getting the best bang for your buck. If you are sensitive to Dairy, try unsweetened coconut milk yogurt or even goat milk yogurt. Goat milk is more easily digestible than cows milk. I'll add a pinch of stevia and some vanilla to my yogurt to amp up the yummy factor. Throwing in a few walnuts or almonds and some fresh berries makes this a real treat!
Bonus: Buy an electric, countertop ice cream maker and make your own version of frozen yogurt for an icy sweet treat without all the sugar and additives. Include a little vanilla, stevia and a pinch of salt to your yogurt mixture then follow the directions on your ice cream machine and viola! You'll have a delectably creamy treat! I bought this ice cream/sorbet/frozen yogurt maker from cuisinart and it works great!
