5. Drink more water.
Is there anything more natural than water? No, not a thing. And drinking water is the single most important thing to remember when treating any infection, from colds and flu to skin infections and urinary tract infections. There are a lot of reasons for this. For one thing, our bodies are made of mostly water, so it makes sense that constantly replenishing our bodies with what it is already made of, helps it to carry out its natural functions—like fighting infections—more efficiently. Water also serves as a vehicle that carries away bacteria and other harmful things that enter our bodies and make us sick. Another reason water is so important, especially with a UTI, is that drinking lots of water increases the number of trips you take to the restroom, and as water passes through the urinary system, it helps to flush out the system, as well as the site of the infection. Even if you are already a pro at hydration, upping your intake of H2O will boost your immune system and immediately start helping you fight off that UTI.
